Chapter 27: Asbestos

The purpose of this program is to ensure that worker exposure to asbestos remains below the permissible exposure limit (PEL) and that asbestos containing material (ACM) is properly handled and disposed of. It covers all work potentially involving ACM, from asbestos removal to cleaning floor tiles and replacing brake pads. The requirements of Asbestos apply to workers performing asbestos work, supervisors, asbestos abatement subcontractors, field construction managers, Field Services representatives, building and area managers, and the program manager; and Waste Management and the Building Inspection Office.
