The mission of the Machine Maintenance group is to preserve the function of primarily MFD's but also of all of SLAC's metal working machinery, manufacturing process systems, and capital machining equipment throughout their useful lives, and to support manufacturing and service groups by selecting and applying the most cost-effective techniques for managing failures, breakdowns, and their consequences. Our success depends on the satisfaction of supervisors, operators, and custodians of the equipment. We take great pride in ourselves, our work, and the service we provide to the machining groups and other departments. We handle installation, maintenance, upgrade, and the eventual retirement of machining equipment throughout SLAC, and perform the work to SLAC safety and building requirements.
If you are an MFD supervisor, please fill out an service request for machine repair or preventative maintenance. Operators and supervisors of other departments can e-mail or call one of the contacts listed above to complete an TPD request for you or complete a request and then email or call. When filling out a request, please include a description of the problem, the machine, the location, a charge number, and your contact information.
