| Abstract: | In the search for the Standard Model Higgs boson, the ATLAS experiment has observed a narrow resonance with a mass at ~126.5 GeV/c^2. Individual search results in the channels H->gamma gamma, H->ZZ*->4l and H->WW*->lvlv will be presented. The observation is consistent with the production and decay of the Standard Model Higgs boson. |
| Speaker: | Jianming Qian - University of Michigan
![]() Professor Qian earned his B.S. in 1985 from the University of Science & Technology of China, and his Ph.D. from MIT in 1991, with a thesis on the Z^0 line shape using Z->mu+mu- decays at L3. He continued working on the L3 experiment as a postdoc with the University of Michigan, then joined the Michigan faculty and the DZERO experiment at Fermilab in 1993. He served as the Physics Coordinator of the DZERO experiment and was elected a fellow of the American Physical Society. In the last 5 years, he has been working on the ATLAS experiment, mainly on Higgs searches, and is currently convening the ATLAS H->WW search group.
