All journal subscriptions, newspapers, books, and other
publications ordered by SLAC staff members or affiliated users
with SLAC funds must be processed through the Library. You
may
want to order the materials yourself with a credit card, charge
number or petty cash. If so, you will need to
bring the materials and invoice/receipt to the library to be
processed. Click here to use the SLAC Library's
Online Order Form.
- Departmental Loans
- Departmental Loans are those items you may always need
at your desk and are purchased with your own departmental
funds for your exclusive use. Since they are part of SLAC’s
information resources, you may be asked to share those
resources by permitting another staff member to consult an
item housed in your office. However, they will not be
recalled. When you leave SLAC, you have to either return
them to the Library or transfer the book to another borrower
in your group. When you submit the Departmental Loan Order
Request, please always include your Departmental charge
account number.
- Recommendations
- We welcome recommendations of books or journals to be
added to the Library’s collection. When you submit the
Library Order Request, please include the reason why it
would be beneficial for SLAC. All Library purchases need to
be approved by the Library Manager.
- The policy of the Library is to buy only those books
requested by a SLAC staff member.
- Books for Personal Use
- The Library cannot buy personal copies of books for
staff members. However, we can help you locate the
information you need to order a book yourself. Call Library
Acquisitions Desk at X4386 or send email to
books@slac.stanford.edu, for information on local and
online bookstores. To borrow non-work related books for
personal use, please visit your local library or Stanford
University Libraries.
- Out of Print Books & Translations
- The Library staff can assist you with purchasing an out
of print book as well as having a written work translated.
Contact the the Information Desk at x2411 or
library@slac.stanford.edu for more information.
