End Station B (building 62) Alarm Response

The klystron modulators in the End Station B contain a large oil tank which can
overflow due to a water leak and spill large amounts of oil onto the floor and leading out
the building. This is mineral oil used for cosmetics, but any spillage into the
storm drain system is considered a release of a toxic compound and must be stopped if at
all possible.
Alarm Response
Depending on the nature of the spill, the alarm is expected to provide between 1/2 hour
and a day notice prior to a potentially hazardous situation.
- Go down to End Station B and examine modulator systems.
- Examine modulators for evidence of and oil or water leak (which may not be immediately
visible).
- Go into the control room (Building 128) just outside the End Station B and find the
emergency response call-down list on the North side wall of the control
room.
- Call personnel on the board in the order listed.
- If you are unable to contact any of the emergency response persons listed on the board,
call Main Control (2151) and explain the situation to the EOIC. They will be able to
dispatch maintenance mechanics to turn off all water sources for the accelerator systems
in the area.
