I
am a post doctoral researcher at MIT working on both the
Cryogenic Dark Matter Search and the Micro-X X-ray Imaging Spectrometer
Telescope. My work at SLAC is due to collaboration with Eduardo do Couto e
Silva's CDMS group and our joint work on detector Monte Carlo. While I utilize
SLAC computing resources, I am an offsite user in Boston. As SLAC shifts its
focus from accelerator based, and on-site research, its user base will become
more heavily populated with users just like myself. With this change in focus,
it will become more important for SLUO to bring representation to offsite users
and to keep SLAC leadership informed of off-site user needs. Additionally, off
site users will benefit from a through knowledge of, and access to, a broad
range of very valuable resources that exist at SLAC.
