Welcome!
Records Management at SLAC is provided through the Business Services Division
and is responsible for helping SLAC preserve, schedule and dispose of the
temporary records, regardless of format, created in the course of doing business
at SLAC. In conjunction with the Archives and History Office,
http://www.slac.stanford.edu/history/, Records Management is responsible for
those records that are created in the course of our day-to-day operations and
must be retained for specified lengths of time for financial, legal,
epidemiological or medical reasons, according to established disposition
schedules of the Department of Energy and the National Archives and Records
Administration (NARA).
Records Management is available to assist departments and records custodians to
appraise, schedule, transfer to storage, and dispose of inactive records
according to specific procedures and DOE guidelines. We can provide guidance in
assessing those records of historical and scientific significance that should be
directed to the Archives and History Office, and offer guidance on scheduling
records that require temporary storage at the Federal Records Center (FRC) in
San Bruno, CA. Our goal is to provide the necessary guidance and tools necessary
to help SLAC preserve its history and comply with our contractual obligations.
