LLNL Solenoid Gun Magnet 4/28/2011 Scott Anderson This is the Compton type solenoid which is being measured for LLNL Axial Field Probe Alignment: x and y = 0 is the mechanical center of the inside cylinder. +X is to the right looking in the +Z direction and +Y is up. Z = 0 is the outside surface of the upstream end plate and +Z is into the magnet (see Axial Probe Setup 3.JPG where the probe is at Z = 0) An axial field pointed into the probe will be recorded as positive. Runs 8-10 Transverse and Multipole Field Probe Alignment: x and y = 0 is the mechanical center of the inside cylinder. Z = 0 is the outside surface of the upstream end plate and +Z is into the magnet. +X is to the right looking in the +Z direction and +Y is up. (See Setup 3 from -z end, coil at z = 0 with coordinates.JPG) Transverse and multipole fields vs z at magnetic center (X = -2 mils, Y = +1 mils). Positive angles are CCW from +X horizontal looking in the +Z direction).
