Geomatics Engineering

Geomatics Engineering is a modern discipline which integrates acquisition, modeling, analysis, and management of spatially referenced data. Based on the scientific framework of geodesy, it uses terrestrial, marine, airborne, and satellite-based sensors to acquire data. These data are used for a wide range of applications, such as positioning and navigation, digital imaging by photogram metric and other remote sensing techniques, cadastral and hydrographic surveying, as well as gravity field and satellite orbit determination. Geomatics Engineering includes the process of transforming spatially referenced data from different sources into common information systems, such as GIS, with well-defined accuracy characteristics.
