The SLAC Plan of the Week provides information regarding preparations for activities containing high or serious risks (per ANSI/AIHA Z101) of an atypical nature. This discussion serves to provide assurance to the SLAC Directorate that preparation for such activities is appropriate and adequate; and it also facilitates SLAC and DOE oversight.
Additionally, the agenda allows a periodic review of events and identification of best practices and near hits as part of continuous improvement.
The safety of everyone that participates in any SLAC operation is of the highest value. Great science and great safety performance go hand in hand. We can go home everyday without anyone being injured on the job, and we can and should learn from any event or near miss. Open and honest reporting is crucial, and we encourage the prompt reporting of untoward events so we can gather information to help us in continuous improvement.
