A newcomer to SLAC, who needs to receive an Identification
badge, a dosimeter, a computer account, a phone, or any other
services, must be entered into the SLAC Institutional Database
(SID). In other words, you need to be in SID to "officially
exist".
We need to ensure that new comers are entered into SID as
quickly as possible. Please notify the appropriate entry
points, listed below, prior to the person’s arrival.
For more information regarding Site Access
and Identification Badges Policies and Procedures, please see
http://www-group.slac.stanford.edu/esh/rp/fo/access.htm.
The SLAC Security and Badging Office will NOT be able to
enter personnel into SID. This must be completed before going
to the Security office to acquire the Identification Badge.
There are several entry points into SID:

What is Important in This Process
- Cooperation: With everyone’s cooperation this process
can be successful.
- Accuracy: The accuracy of the data is extremely important.
Properly spelled names, correct room and phone numbers,
etc. create a reliable list.
- Time-line: Because a person is only able to receive
services at SLAC by getting entered into SID, time is a
critical factor in this process. Names can be entered
into SID prior to the person’s arrival at SLAC, which will
prevent delays and will enable the person to begin work
immediately.
