I checked the pole tip field with the main at 1 A and then the trim at 1 A and the difference of the fields were (-49.3 + 22.3)/-31.8 + 22.3) = 27.0/9.5 G  = 2.84 
which very close to the 40/14 turn ratio of 2.86.
