Hi Scott,
The measurements look good except for the high current (CD3) in which the magnet saturates heavily.
I asked to measure at high current with the coil in back since the magnet was already assembled like that.
The design configuration for CD3 is coil on the pole not in the back (coil in the back is not even an option because of the heavy saturation)
So, now I'm anxious to measure CD3 (high current with coil on the pole)

For the coil in the backleg the 3 currents (3GeV) are:
CD1: 23.47 A
CD2: 57.69 A
CD4: 116.43 A
(for the records I'm counting on loosing 5% of integrated field because of chamfering).

Please perform the full scan (+/- 50 mm) at these 3 currents.

Thanks,
Domenico

Domenico,

The integrated strength data is on the web at:

in the file wiredat.ru1

PS we need to talk about the By vs x measurements.  I will try calling you on your cell.

Hi Scott,
For the holding time don't go below 2 minutes.
The By vs. x scan should be done for the prototype every 20 A from 0-280A.
The scan for the integrated field is from -50mm to +50mm.
The reason for such large scan is that the good field region is +/-25 mm and I need to chamfer the pole for an area bigger than 25mm.
I used +/- 50 mm for this initial scan even if the OPera 3D calculations suggest -45+30mm for the chamfer.
Once I characterize the prototype I will ask measurements only a few current setpoints.

Domenico

Domenico,

I have 2 questions about the measurements.  First, is the 300 Sec (5 min) wait time necessary?  It seems a bit long.  At what currents do you want the By vs x scans done?  The same 0-280 A in 20 A steps as the integrated?   For the integrated I am just scaning +/- 5 mm  around x = 0.

Please reply using email, since my phone appears to be dead.
