Lam Subject: OECM Power Supply Switching Effect Hi, Briant and I completed the measurements requested by Cherrill Spencer (in http://www-group.slac.stanford.edu/met/MagMeas/MAGDATA/ILC/OECM-PS/Charge.txt of March 18, 2006) on the switching behaviour of the OECM Power Supply on a magnet, using the set up with a dipole magnet in the Power Conversion Lab. In short, during switching, - the Voltage drops by ~6.25 V from ~ 12V - the current drops by 7.7A (from 120 A) - the field in center drops by 160 Gauss (from 2.5 kG) - the Voltage recovers, with ~350mV overshoot, within 40ms - current and field recover much slower, >400ms. A more detailed report is at http://www-group.slac.stanford.edu/met/MagMeas/MAGDATA/ILC/OECM-PS/oecm-ps.pdf (Adobe pdf, 5 p.) http://www-group.slac.stanford.edu/met/MagMeas/MAGDATA/ILC/OECM-PS/oecm-ps.odt (OpenOffice 2.0) http://www-group.slac.stanford.edu/met/MagMeas/MAGDATA/ILC/OECM-PS/oecm-ps.sxw (OpenOffice 1.1) http://www-group.slac.stanford.edu/met/MagMeas/MAGDATA/ILC/OECM-PS/oecm-ps.doc (MS Word, made from OpenOffice) http://www-group.slac.stanford.edu/met/MagMeas/MAGDATA/ILC/OECM-PS/oecm-ps.html (Web Page). This directory, http://www-group.slac.stanford.edu/met/MagMeas/MAGDATA/ILC/OECM-PS/ also contains the charge (Charge.txt), and the original figures used in the report. Please let us know if any additional information or measurements are required. Sincerely yours, Achim & Briant
