Positioning

Positioning, or point position determination is the geodetic task where points can be positioned either individually or as a part of a whole network of points. The positions sought may be either absolute (with respect to a coordinate system) or relative (with respect to other points). The act of measuring these points is considered surveying which is concerned with making measurements or observations of natural or man-made features and adjusting these for maximum accuracy.
