LCLS

In 2006, following the creation of an LCLS SharePoint website, the Alignment Engineering Group started posting results and studies for the LCLS community to the LCLS SharePoint Alignment Site. Previous studies and results can be found here.

Links and instructions for seeing current AEG LCLS information via Google Earth are below.

Information regarding current Alignment Engineering Group LCLS information can be found using Google Earth. To view the information you will need Google Earth installed on your computer. (For help and instructions on installing Google Earth, please see below.)

Link to AEG LCLS Information KMZ File:

  • Once Google Earth is installed, click the following link to connect and download AEG LCLS information.

Download KMZ File (Sorry, still under construction)

  • This link will download a .kmz file. The .kmz is a file format for displaying an AEG overlay in Google Earth
  • If Google Earth has been previously installed, double clicking or opening the .kmz file should automatically open Google Earth and load the overlay data into the "Places" table of contents window in Google Earth. (You may have to first save the .kmz file first if this does not work.)

The network link feature in Google Earth provides a way for you to automatically update the AEG LCLS information as changes to the data are made.

Network link to AEG LCLS Network KMZ File:

  1. Open Google Earth after installing
  2. Click Menu: Add -> Network Link
  3. Enter name: AEG LCLS Information
  4. Enter location: http://*.kmz (sorry, still under construction)
  5. Select refresh parameters: Time-Based Refresh, 24 hours
  6. Click OK

The network link is now setup and will refresh the data with the latest file when you open Google Earth, or will update every 24 hours if left open.
