Truncation

Example: astro#
# (number sign) retrieves all words beginning with the same root.

Title

Example: galaxies black holes
Any or all words from the title can be used in any order. Truncated searches may be used as well.

Author

Example: Panofsky, W K H ; panof#
Enter the last name of the author and the first initial, if known. Truncated searches may be used as well.

Simple Search

Example: panofsky magnetism
This search automatically assumes that the words are grouped by "and". Although you can include "and" in the search, if you'd like.

Example: panofsky and magnetism
This search will also give you the same results.

Example: panofsky and magnetism or any drell
In this search you can use "and" as well as "or".

Example: panofsky not magnetism
In this search you can use "not" to narrow your results.

Browse Index

The browse function shows an alphabetical list for your search word. For example, if you search 'magnetism' in the subject index, a list starting with the closest match to your subject will come up. Example:
