RUNNING SCRIPTS AT SLAC
Due to security and support issues, SLAC users who wish to run scripts on the UNIX or Windows servers need to obtain permissions. Here you will find information and contacts to help you with this process.

Unix
On our Unix server, CGI scripting is available, but:
  • Scripts are required to use SLAC’s CGI Script Security Wrapper.
  • Script authors must meet with John Bartelt to discuss how scripts are implemented and obtain authorization.
Windows
On our Windows servers, ASP and ASP.NET scripting is available, but:
  • This functionality is disabled by default.
  • We do not allow cgi scripting on our Windows servers.
  • When scripting is enabled in a particular subdirectory, file browsing is disabled.
  • This condition requires that html and asp or aspx files be in separate subdirectories.
  • If ASP scripting is required, please send your request to www-admin@slac.stanford.edu and indicate the specific subdirectory where scripting should be turned on.
  • Similarly, for ASP.NET please send your request to www-admin@slac.stanford.edu to enable .NET on a particular subweb.
