Estimated Housing CostsHousing prices for long term rentals in
the San Francisco Bay Area continue to be higher than other
areas due to demand.
Most recently we’ve seen the rental market go up an
average of 12% from last year in many areas.
This situation has
forced us to re-evaluate our services.
Advance notice is
still appreciated; but in order to do a true search, the
client must be here and ready to put down a deposit and the
first month’s rent. When requesting a room in a home or one of
our furnished studio’s, we would like as much advance notice
as possible.
We are able to pre-book these accommodations and we
will reserve them on a first-come-first served basis. Our Housing Questionnaire can be found at
http://www-group.slac.stanford.edu/hr/h/questionnaire.htm When completing your Housing
Questionnaire, it is important for us to know if you are
bringing your family, if you smoke, have pets or allergies
or need to be within walking/biking distance to SLAC.
This will help us to see what direction we should
take in our search.
Advance
reservations are also required at the
Stanford Guest House
conveniently located on the SLAC site.
You may get more information or book a room by going
to
http://www.stanford.edu/dept/hds/guesthouse. SLAC Rates below are effective as of July 1, 2012 $104 per night
for standard room with queen size bed (tax included)
$124 per night
for larger room with two queen or one queen(handicap
accessable) bed (tax

current averages for the Menlo Park/Palo Alto area.
The Housing Office will always strive to
secure the lowest possible rates.

Lease ConditionsTo rent a house or apartment you will need to give the owner a security deposit plus the first month’s rent. Some owners may even ask for last month’s rent, but this is rare. This deposit must be in U.S. funds drawn on a U.S. bank, cash or travelers’ checks. Credit cards are accepted at the Stanford Guest House but may NOT be used for rentals in private homes, apartments or houses. Content:
