Frequently Asked Questions

1.     Who should I contact if I have questions about a foreign national from a Sensitive or T-4 Country who may be visiting SLAC?

2.     Do I need to do anything if I have a visitor from a Sensitive Country coming to conduct research at SLAC for less than 30 days in a 12-month period?
This category of person does not need to be entered into the DOE FACTS system.  

 

3.     What do I need to do if I have a visitor from a Sensitive Country coming to do research at SLAC for more than 30 days in a 12-month period?
Contact the
International Services Coordinator.  You must ensure the visitor’s information and assignment details are entered in the DOE FACTS system PRIOR to their arrival.    

 

4.     What do I need to do if I have a visitor from a T-4  Country coming to SLAC?
Contact the International Services Coordinator
as soon as possible per the SLAC Implementation Plan.

 

5.     What do I need to do if I would like to extend an invitation to a prospective employee, visitor, contractor, subcontractor, guest, Postdoc, or Student Research Assistant (SRA, commonly referred to as a grad student) who is a citizen of, born in, or is affiliated with (employed or sponsored by) a T-4  Country.  Do I need to do anything?

Contact the International Services Coordinator as soon as possible per the SLAC Implementation Plan.

 

6.   What should I do if I am aware of a T-4  individual coming onto the SLAC site for a weekly lunch meeting, to give a talk, to attend a workshop, take a tour, attend a colloquium, attend a public lecture, or be here for some other public event?
These types of occasional visits to General Access Areas (GAAs) are considered to be a part of our openness in research mission and do not require prior DOE approval.  NOTE:  In no case, may DOE funds be expended for stipend or financial reimbursement prior to approval by the International Services Office.

 

7.   What if I have a question about a situation that does not neatly fall into the questions and situations mentioned above?
