Unclassified Foreign Visits & Assignments

The SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory supports an atmosphere of free intellectual exchange and collaboration within the international scientific and technical community.  Visitors from around the world perform a vital role in sustaining the creative environment and contribute to achieving SLAC's mission.  Some visitors, however, require special processing and approval.

Under DOE Order 142.3A (Unclassified Foreign Visits and Assignments), all DOE facilities are required to evaluate the visits and/or assignments of individuals who are citizens of, born in, or are affiliated with a few countries identified by the DOE as Sensitive. Additional evaluation and approval is required for visitors from countries identified by the U.S. Department of State as being state sponsors of terrorism (referred to as T-4 Countries).

NOTE:  Requirements under DOE Order 142.3A do not include those born in Sensitive or T-4 Countries who have become U.S. citizens.  It does, however, include U.S. Legal Permanent Residents who are citizens of, born in, or are affiliated with Sensitive or T-4 Countries.
