Proposals must be submitted to Carmella Huser, Employee/Labor Relations and Training Manager, M/S 11, by June 15, 2007.

Description

A one-year fellowship to engage in full or part-time activities that will enhance the employee’s career and contribute to SLAC’s needs and mission. Activities may include:

  • Development and implementation of programs/projects
  • Job exploration
  • Time to take coursework or other training
  • Other activities proposed by the Fellow

Eligibility

Eligibility for the fellowship is for those who have:

  • Been employed by SLAC for at least three years.
  • Demonstrated interest in promoting diversity at work or in the community.
  • Ability to manage own time.
  • Approval of Supervisor (see forms above)

Application Process

  • Submit an application; forms are available as a Word document, a PDF document, or in hard copy at the Human Resources Department (see forms above)
  • Proposals must include:
    • Detailed description of your planned activities for the fellowship year;
    • Explanation of how these activities will develop your career at SLAC;
    • Explanation of how these activities will contribute to the mission of SLAC;
    • Description of your contributions to diversity at SLAC or in the community;
    • Approval of your supervisor and, if appropriate, of others involved.

  • The person selected will be notified by July 20, 2007.

Selection Process

A committee will select the Ashley Fellow. The committee members will include the Director of Human Resources, the Affirmative Action Officer, four employee representatives, and an Associate Director.
The committee will review all of the proposals and interview the finalists.

Fellowship Year

We recognize that the exact dates of the Fellowship year could depend on the proposal accepted; however, we anticipate that the year will begin October 1, 2007 and end on September 28, 2008.

Salary During Fellowship

You will receive your regular salary during the Fellowship year. You will participate in the normal salary and performance evaluation cycles.
