Note: Metal staples and paper clips are okay.

  • Paper board (e.g., paper pad backs)
  • Ream wrappers
  • Stringy shredded paper
  • Telephone books
  • White paper

  • Coated plotter paper (Trash)
  • Confetti paper2 (Trash)
  • Corrugated cardboard (See General Guidance)
  • Food-contaminated paper (Trash)
  • Napkins and tissues (Trash)

Note: No rubber bands, plastic paper clips, plastic wrappers, or plastic or wax coated paper.

2Confetti paper from cross-cut shredders must be bagged and placed in the trash.

Beverage Bottles and Cans

Plastic Bottles (with necks) #'s 3 through 7 also Accepted. No Styrofoam blocks or beads. (view label)

  • Aluminum cans
  • Aluminum foil (clean, non-work area3)
  • Bimetal and tin cans
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Plastic #14 (PETE)
  • Plastic #24 (HDPE)
  • Plastic #3 through #7 (bottles with necks only)
  • Note: Remove and place plastic caps in the trash. Empty beverage containers and rinse for indoor collection locations.

    3Aluminum and other metals from work areas are managed as scrap metals, check with Property Control/Salvage Warehouse  (ext. 2329)

    4Look on the bottom of the container for a number inside "chasing arrows."

    • Aerosol containers (Trash)
    • Drinking glass
    • Frosted glass (Trash)
    • Mirrors (Check with Waste Management ext. 2399)
    • Plastics #'s 3 through 74 (jar-like containers or bottles without necks)
    • Plastic bags (Trash)
    • Plate glass (Trash)
    • Laboratory glass (Trash, if clean. Otherwise check with Waste Management, ext. 2399)
    • Styrofoam blocks or beads (Trash)
