Purpose Statement

The goal of the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC) Building Management Program is to ensure all
SLAC buildings and conventional facilities are operated and maintained to provide the safe and high quality environment required to achieve SLAC’s Mission


  • The building management program applies to all buildings and facilities on SLAC property that
    are managed and operated by SLAC.


  • The Building Management Program Manager in the Conventional Facilities, Operations and
    Maintenance Department is responsible for updating this document.

Maintenance Definition

  • When dealing with a campus as diverse and complex as SLAC, instances will arise not
    specifically addressed above. For those instances, please refer to the following definition of
    Maintenance as listed in the Department of Energy’s Real Property Asset Management Order.
    If the task meets this definition and is not programmatic in nature Facilities will fund the repairs

Facility Use Agreement

  • A Facility Use Agreement (FUA) is a formal agreement between the Directorate assigned a
    facility and the Facilities Division. This agreement is negotiated on a case by case basis by the
    facility landlord or designee, and building engineer. The purpose of the FUA is to define the
    responsibilities the Landlord, Building Manager, Building Point of Contact, Area Manager(s)
    and Building Engineer. The objective of the agreement is to ensure that the infrastructure and
    support services enable the occupants to work effectively in the facility while complying with all
    the, safety, operational and administrative requirements that apply.
