Hazardous Materials Management |
This is now a mandatory course for all personnel who work with hazardous
materials or waste or who may be exposed to potentially hazardous
chemicals under a foreseeable workplace emergency situation.
This course is also required for all personnel who work in laboratories
covered under SLAC’s Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) and for those whose
hazardous materials exposure is limited to cryogen handling. It serves
as a pre-requisite for lab-specific training to meet the CHP training
requirements and for cryogenic safety training.
Annual recertification, which is necessary to satisfy the California
Title 22 (Hazardous Waste) requirements, will be required through the
completion of on-line refresher course/courses. |

Hazard Communication Awareness |
This is now a resource course for personnel that would like additional
information but are not required to take 105 Hazardous Materials
Management, and whose potential chemical exposure would not be
considered foreseeable based on their primary work areas and
responsibilities. Examples of employees that may fall into this category
are office workers in non-production areas such as the A&E building and
administrative workers that only pass chemical production or storage
areas incidentally and not as part of their primary job description. |
