SLAC Wellness Classes

See the class details for information on how to register. Most classes are taught and registered through Stanford HIP. You can join the classes at any time during the quarter.  SLAC classes take place at the aerobics room of Building 27.  For a full list of HIP classes including those at Stanford, please see the current catalog on the Stanford HIP website.

BeWell Incentive Program: 1) Complete an assessment at http://BeWell.stanford.edu and receive $150 taxable reward. 2) Attend a workshop and create a wellness plan. 3) Reduced class fees for HIP classes.

Benefit Rewards:  Stanford employees enrolled in HealthNet, Pacificare, or Blue Shield HMO plans can receive wellness rewards ($75 and up) for taking HIP classes. Classes

Cardio Dance & Core Strength Fusion

Cost: $100/quarter (20 classes)

Enjoy the low to moderate intensity activity with steps and styles from various genres of dance. Move to folk, ccha cha, waltz, western, swing, merenge, afro, samba, and Middle Eastern dance! Get a great full-body workout! Wear athletic shoes or dance shoes and comfortable clothing. Bring a mat or towel, and a water bottle.

Gentle Conditioning & Stretch

Tighten and tone your entire body with this gentle muscle conditioning and stretch workout that includes exercises using a stability ball, elastic resistance and light hand-held weights. Elastic bands provided. Bring your own stability ball, weights, mat and towel. Wear clothing appropriate for outdoor activity.

Healthy Back Exercise using the Stability Ball

This class benefits everyone - not just people with back problems!  Emphasis is on exercises for the back, and maintaining good posture while doing core strengthening exercises on the stability ball.  Everyone exercises at his or her own fitness level.  There is no aerobic component in this class.  Bring a mat, towel, and water bottle.

Pilate Essentials

  5:30-6:30 pm, Wednesdays (pe-02)

Pilates classes address posture, mind/body awareness, strength, and flexibility training. Emphasis is placed on deep breathing and strengthening the abdominal, shoulder stabilizer, pelvic floor, and back muscles, and on improving mobility. All levels welcome, including those with back problems. Bring a mat, towel, and a water bottle.

Yoga: Relax & Renew

Take a mid-day break to relax and renew your body and mind. The class combines feel-good stretches, breathing exercises, and guided relaxation to undo morning stress and refresh you. Bring a yoga mat.
