All SLAC employees who handle lead need to know the contents of these sections of the OSHA lead standard (29 CFR 1910.1025):
All SLAC employees who handle lead materials for more than 30 minutes on any day, work with lead using powered tools, or require the class as stated in an industrial hygiene survey must take the following SLAC training course:
This class covers the health effects of lead, operations that could result in lead exposure, methods to control exposure, overview of the SLAC medical surveillance program, and engineering controls and work practices to reduce lead exposure, in addition to a review of the OSHA lead standard.
All non-SLAC personnel who work with lead must provide proof of comparable training or take the SLAC training.
