Only trained and qualified personnel may handle, remove, or otherwise disturb ACM. Managers and supervisors will ensure all personnel under their supervision are made aware of the requirements in this chapter and must immediately report any suspected asbestos hazard to the asbestos program manager.
Asbestos Work
Work with asbestos is classified following OSHA (see
Definitions).
Class I Asbestos Work

Class II asbestos work that may result in personnel exposure to asbestos above the OSHA PEL of 0.1 fibers per cubic centimeter may only be performed by an asbestos subcontractor. SLAC personnel performing Class II asbestos work will have a Job Hazard Analysis and Mitigation (JHAM) form approved by the asbestos program manager prior to any asbestos work and will perform all work in accordance with this JHAM.
Class III and IV Asbestos Work
Class III and IV asbestos work will be performed only by trained and qualified personnel. Personnel performing Class III and IV asbestos work will have a JHAM approved by their supervisor and a Class II work supervisor or manager prior to performing any asbestos work. (See
