Chapter 27: Asbestos

The purpose of this program is to ensure that worker exposure to asbestos remains below the permissible exposure limit (PEL) and that asbestos containing material (ACM) is properly handled and disposed of. It covers all work potentially involving ACM, from asbestos removal to cleaning floor tiles and replacing brake pads. The requirements of Asbestos apply to workers performing asbestos work and their supervisors, building and area managers, asbestos abatement subcontractors, and the Building Inspection Office.
