Training (5.3)

SLAC requires operators of motorized vehicles to posses a valid California driver's license or a California-recognized license issued by another state or by a foreign jurisdiction of which the operator is a resident. The license must be valid for the class of vehicle being operated.

There are no training requirements specific to this program for operating vehicles, but all persons working on-site receive the orientation appropriate to their classification, and each orientation course discusses traffic safety. (Training: General Site Access Requirements [pdf])

Defensive Driving (5.3.1)

Drivers involved in an accident resulting in damage to government vehicles and/or to property, in which safety procedures are found to have not been followed (or the cause of the accident remains unknown) will be required to participate in a defensive driving course (see Chapter 28, "Incident Investigation").
