Standards (Section 3)

Laser safety policies at SLAC will be in compliance with control measures outlined in the following:

American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z136.1-2000, "Safe Use of Lasers" (ANSI Z136.1-2000)

Lasers or laser systems certified for a specific class by a manufacturer in accordance with the Federal Laser Product Performance Standard (FLPPS) are considered as fulfilling all classification requirements of ANSI Z136.1-2000 (see Section 5.1.2, “Classification”).

Warning signs will meet the following ANSI standards:

ANSI Z535.1-2002, "Safety Color Code" (ANSI Z535.1-2002)
