Ladder Safety Procedure

Procurement, Fabrication, and Installation of Fixed Ladders

Step Person Action
1 Building/area manager, or designee Contacts the appropriate design authority for procuring a fixed ladder
2 Design authority Approves the fixed ladder design, applications, and specifications. Design specifications are to include material, fabrication, and installation criteria. Refer to the Fixed Ladder Inspection Checklist when reviewing the design.
3 Building/area manager, or designee Fabricates or procures and installs fixed ladder per design specifications
4 Building/area manager, or designee Notifies CGS that the fixed ladder has been installed and designates a ladder owner
5 CGS Inspects the fixed ladder prior to use and applies an acceptance label with an assigned tracking number
6 CGS Tracks fixed ladders in the Fixed Ladder Database and performs scheduled ladder inspections
