When your project involves concrete..

When your project involves pouring concrete, you may need to dispose of excess wet concrete. Also, chances are you will need a place to wash the concrete equipment and tools.

  • Plan ahead and arrange to use an existing concrete clean-out area (see below) or construct your own.

  • Supervise your project and make sure that the contractors use the specified "clean-out" areas.

  • When the excess concrete and wash-water are dry, break the concrete into pieces and dispose as construction debris (or if it is a small amount, dispose in a regular dumpster)

Concrete Clean-out Area

A concrete clean-out area is a place where wet concrete and wash-water from cleaning concrete equipment is placed, to allow the water to evaporate, and the concrete to solidify. The solidified concrete is then broken up and used on-site as fill or sent off-site for recycling or disposal.

An example of how excess wet concrete can be applied to the soil for drying.
