Standards (Section 3)

The SLAC fire and life safety program is based on compliance with the following standards:

• Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, "Energy"
  • Part 851, "Worker Safety and Health Program," including references to 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926 and all applicable building codes and National Fire Protection Association codes and standards (10 CFR 851)

• National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) consensus standards, as adopted by reference in 10 CFR 851. The full list of currently applicable NFPA standards is presented in Fire and Life Safety: NFPA Standards List [pdf].

• SLAC is located in an unincorporated area of San Mateo County. There are no applicable local fire protection requirements that apply directly to the fire protection program at SLAC. See Chapter 40, "Hazardous Materials", for process safety management requirements administered by the County of San Mateo.
