Training (5.3)

In addition to the classroom training listed below, emergency management drills and exercises are required for EOC staff, SERT members, and building occupants. The drill schedule is updated on an annual basis.

EOC Staff

Classes provide emergency response training and increase SLAC's capability to respond effectively to an emergency. Analysis of training, including feedback following exercises, provides the needed information for improvement.

Building Managers

Building manager training is specified by the building manager program and listed in the Building Manager Program Manual.

SLAC Emergency Response Team Members

To become a certified team member, SERT volunteers must complete all six SERT class sessions and also concurrently complete the two additional courses listed below:

To remain on the team, members must renew their SERT certification every two years by retaking the SERT training. Members must also stay current on first aid/CPR courses by taking the refresher course every 24 months.

Building Assessment Team Members

BAT training is currently through a licensed structural consulting engineer at Stanford University. A SLAC-specific course is under development.

All Persons

All persons must complete orientation training when they first begin working at SLAC, and all persons must take part in any building evacuation drills conducted in their area of work, if they are present in the building at the time of drill.
