Per Diem
Domestic per diem rates are set by fiscal year, effective October 1. Foreign per diem rates are changed monthly. Please check the per diem rates before you travel. The areas most likely to affect SLAC travelers are Los Angeles, CA; Washington DC; and Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Domestic per diem useful information
- The Standard Per Diem rate (lodging $70; Meals and Incidental $39 per FY08) applies if the destination city or county is not on the federal per diem web site listed above.
- Lodging must be inside the boundary of the specified geographical area - nearby does not count. Use the following links to look up by county: http://www.naco.org or http://geonames.usgs.gov.
- For stays of 30 days or longer, the per diem rates are 55% of the published rate and apply from the first day.

Per diem rates of areas just a few miles apart may vary substantially. The table below highlights areas that are frequently confused and is provided as a courtesy to SLAC travelers. It is the responsibility of travelers to check for the most current rates. Rates are effective November 1, 2007.
