Plan for Implementation

SLAC's annual Affirmative Action Plan involves leadership and commitment from across the laboratory.  From the top, the Director of the Laboratory, Jonathan Dorfan, holds the broad vision of diversity here at SLAC. The participation of supervisors and managers is central to the creation and achievement of our annual goals.

Every year, supervisors and managers identify affirmative action goals for their respective divisions. Goals are created based on the expected number of opportunities for hire and promotion and the existing demographics of the specific division as well as the laboratory overall. The Affirmative Action Office works with supervisors and managers to facilitate this process, keeping in mind the broader diversity goals of the overall laboratory. Every year, our office evaluates the progress of the laboratory in meeting its affirmative action goals of the previous year.
